Founded in 332 BCE by Alexander the Great, Alexandria is a renowned Egyptian port city with a lush history. Also known as "The Pearl of the Mediterranean," this ancient city served as the center of Hellenistic civilization and the illustrious Ptolemaic Dynasty. The architectural, economic, and intellectual prosperity of this time were reflected in the magnificence of Alexandria's antiquities: including the Pharos of Alexandria, Library of Alexandria, Temple of Taposiris Magna, and catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa. One of Alexandria's most notable residents was Cleopatra. The queen's life was ingrained in Alexandria from her birth. These were the grounds that Cleopatra would reign, court Julius Caesar and give birth to their son, maintain a relationship with Mark Antony and raise their children, and die by Antony's side. Cleopatra and Mark Antony were subsequently buried in a location of Alexandria that is unknown to this day.
