About this Metal

24K gold electroplated jewelry is crafted by coating a durable base metal with a thin layer of pure 24-karat gold (99.9% gold) through an electroplating process. During this process, the base metal is submerged in a solution containing gold ions, and an electrical current bonds the gold to the surface. The result is a rich, luminous yellow finish that captures the luxurious look of solid gold. We only carry thicker micron-plated pieces, which are far superior to the thin “decorative gold plating” found on most lower-quality jewelry. This method allows larger chains, pendants, and statement pieces to maintain high-quality shine and durability, while remaining more affordable than gold-filled jewelry. Care & Wear: To preserve the plating, avoid exposure to hard water, shampoos, ocean salt water, pool chlorine, and heavy perspiration. Plated jewelry is best suited for occasional wear to keep it looking its best.
